Personal Loans in Alaska

SET Financial is a loan matching service, not a lender. We connect Alaskans with third-party lenders who make all credit decisions.

SET Financial is a lead-connection service for new loan requests, not the lender. Not everyone who applies will be matched or approved.

Connecting Alaska Residents with Lenders

SET Financial is not a lender and does not make loans in Alaska. We are a free matching service that connects Alaska residents with third-party lenders in our network, who review each request and make all approval decisions. Requests from people with bad credit or thin credit are welcome, though approval is never guaranteed and every lender sets its own criteria.

An installment loan gives you a set amount up front that you repay over scheduled payments across a fixed term, so you know the payment plan before you sign. Alaskans commonly use personal and installment loans for car repairs, heating fuel and winter costs, medical bills, moving or travel between communities, debt consolidation, and unexpected emergencies. SET Financial does not fund these loans. We only help connect you with lenders who may offer them.

Who the Network Works With in Alaska

Bad credit

A low score does not automatically rule you out. Some lenders in our network consider requests from Alaskans with bad credit and look at more than the score alone, though approval and terms are always set by the lender, never by SET Financial.

Thin or no credit

If you have little or no credit history, certain lenders may still review your request and weigh other factors such as income and banking activity. We only connect you with lenders. We do not decide who qualifies.

Self-employed or 1099 income

Alaskans who work seasonal, gig, fishing, or 1099 jobs can submit a request. Some lenders accept alternative proof of income like bank statements or tax records. Each lender sets its own documentation rules.

Fixed income

People on Social Security, disability, retirement, or other fixed income may be matched with lenders who count stable recurring income. The lender decides whether the amount and source meet its requirements.

Alaska Rates and Your Protections

In Alaska, consumer lending is overseen by the Division of Banking and Securities, which licenses and examines non-depository lenders such as small loan and deferred deposit (payday) companies. Alaska sets rate and fee frameworks by statute: the Alaska Small Loans Act (AS 06.20) permits regulated small loan lenders to charge up to 3% per month on the balance up to $850 and 2% per month on the remainder up to $10,000, while the general legal interest rate under AS 45.45.010 is 10.5% absent a specific agreement or exemption. Deferred deposit advances are capped at a $500 principal with a fee of up to $15 per $100. SET Financial does not set rates. Your APR, fees, and terms are determined solely by the third-party lender you are matched with, subject to applicable Alaska and federal law.

Before you accept any offer, confirm the lender is properly licensed for its product with the Alaska Division of Banking and Securities, and read the APR, fees, payment schedule, and total cost printed on your loan agreement before signing.

Regulator: Alaska Division of Banking and Securities (within the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development).
